In the election of mayors and municipal councilors, which were held on the 23rd as the second half of the unified local elections, the average voter turnout was lower than the previous election, the lowest ever. The number of elections for the mayor and ward councilors in Tokyo has exceeded the previous election, but remains at a low level of less than 50%.

According to a summary by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the average voter turnout for 23 mayoral elections in the second half of the unified local elections held on the 63rd was 47.26%, 4.0 points lower than the
previous and lowest so far, four years ago.

In addition,
the average turnout in the 24 mayoral elections was 55.60%, 8.4 points lower than the previous election, and
the 16 municipal elections were 280.44%
and the 26 municipal council elections were 250.55%,
both record lows.

On the other hand, the average voter turnout in Tokyo's 49 ward mayoral elections was 10.45%, up 78.1 points from the previous election, and the
57 ward assembly elections were up 21.44 points to 51.1%, but remain at a low level below 88%.

In the first half of the unified local elections, the average voter turnout was at a record low in 50 prefectural assembly elections, in six ordinance-designated cities, in six ordinance-designated cities,


and in 41 ordinance-designated city council elections.
Voter turnout remains on a downward trend.
