A stone desert, dull and grey – and perhaps Sweden's most boring square? The criticism of Stortorget in Karlskrona has been raised both in social media and also nationally, in an article in Expressen Stortorget is mentioned from a negative point of view.

– It is very positive that you are involved in your city and have views on what is happening, but I really want to say that more will happen at Stortorget. You have to be a little patient," says Kristina Stark, City Architect and Head of Administration at the Environment and Community Building Administration.

She mentions, among other things, that there will be more benches and more greenery in the square already this summer. This creates what is called the summer square and also provides space for upcoming events. The municipality is also looking at the possibilities of creating some form of play area.

"We are also looking into the long term to see if we can enable an outdoor dining area where restaurateurs can rent themselves out. That can bring more life and movement to the square. In that case, it may be next summer.
