In the scenario on which the exercise is based, a foreign power attacks Sweden on April 24. In addition to the Swedish army, navy, air force and home guard, soldiers from 13 countries participate. One of the most important elements of the military unit exercise is to see how well it works to receive foreign aid in the event of an outbreak of war.

The exercise runs from 17 April until 11 May, and will affect large parts of the country – both on the ground, in the air and at sea.

Practice together

In Skåne, Småland and on Gotland, combat exercises will take place on training fields, but also on civilian soil. In Norrbotten, Swedish and Norwegian Home Guards will train together.

700 US Marines will be transported via Jämtland and Härjedalen. Around the country, fighter jets will take off from their air bases, and combat boats and corvettes will go around the coasts.

The last time an exercise of this magnitude took place was in 1993. About 20,000 people participated in the exercise, known as Orkan.
