Starting April 24, the vaccination bus will travel around the entire county to offer booster vaccines against covid-19 and pneumococci/pneumonia.

The recommendation to take the vaccine is aimed at people aged 80 and over, but is also offered to Blekinge residents who are 65 years and older, as well as those who belong to a risk group.

– The pandemic is not as hot anymore, so this can fall away a bit in everything else. If you are younger, you are welcome to encourage the elderly to get vaccinated, spread the information that it is important, says vaccine coordinator Charlotte Ros.

Doubling the number of hospitalized with covid

In just the last two weeks, there has been a doubling of people just over the age of 80 who are hospitalized with covid-19 at Blekinge Hospital. And only about 30 per cent of those who have been recommended a booster vaccine this spring have so far taken their shot.

– If you are recommended a booster dose, you should take it, says Charlotte Ros.
