The Your Midwife project started in Dalarna in September 2022 and will last for two years. It is aimed at women who are afraid of childbirth throughout the county and as participants they receive support and help from one and the same midwife throughout pregnancy, childbirth and the first period after childbirth.

"It's a big worry that is gone when you know which midwife you're going to get," says Tiina Honkanen.

First children born

Now the first children in the project have been born, including Tiina's son, six-week-old Emilio. For Tiina Honkanen, the security of having the help and support of the same midwife from pregnancy to delivery was significant.

"For me, it's important to feel in control during childbirth. In the past, I have mostly had to hope that they read my birth letter. Now I knew that the midwife knew what I wanted and she was one step ahead all the time," she says.

"Great worry that disappears" – hear Tiina talk about her birth in the clip above.
