"The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet," the palace said. This press release puts an end to an intense suspense nearly three weeks before the coronation of Charles III. The response of the "Sussexes", who left with a bang to live in the United States in 2020, was particularly awaited since early March, when it was announced that they were invited to the ceremony.

Break with King Charles III and Prince William

The couple has multiplied in recent months the attacks against the royal family. After a documentary broadcast on Netflix in December, Harry, 38, published in early January his controversial memoir entitled The Deputy, in which he details the breakdown of his relationship with his father, King Charles III, and his brother William.

Harry and Meghan have only returned to the UK on rare occasions since their departure in 2020, including to attend Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in September. The Duke of Sussex had traveled alone for the funeral of his grandfather Prince Philip in 2021, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Harry also made a surprise appearance in London at the end of March at a hearing against a tabloid in the High Court.
