This Monday evening, at the end of the Easter weekend, the situation at petrol stations seems to be improving. According to the latest figures, 7.5% of stations lacked at least one fuel on Sunday. On the other hand, in some regions, the situation is still very tense, such as in Ile-de-France.

After Easter eggs, traffic jams. With the return of the extended weekend on the roads, this Monday was classified red throughout the Northwest and Ile-de-France. Another difficulty for motorists is the lack of certain fuels at petrol stations. In concrete terms, what is the situation?

Indre-et-Loire and Ile-de-France strongly affected

According to the latest figures, 7.5% of petrol stations lacked at least one fuel on Sunday. This is far from the levels observed last October. But in some areas, the situation is still very tense. As in Ile-de-France where 20 to 40% of stations lack at least one fuel, mostly unleaded. The Indre-et-Loire is also strongly affected with nearly 40% of pumps that are little or not supplied.

At the national level, 20 departments have at least 10% of stations with total or partial fuel shortages. These tensions are linked in particular to strikes at refineries that have only recently been lifted. Only that of Gonfreville in Normandy remains at a standstill. But this is an ordinary situation in return for the weekend, says Olivier Gantois, president of the French Union of Petroleum Industries.

"The supply of petrol stations by tanker trucks is constrained on weekends, since these trucks are not allowed to circulate between Saturday noon and Sunday evening. Today, it is possible that we will have a deterioration following the weekend we have just passed, but the situation will improve again," admits Olivier Gantois at the microphone of Europe 1. According to the specialist, the situation should fully return to normal within a week.
