Patriarch Kirill: The lack of common values between Russia and the West led to conflict

The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church told this to the participants of the meal after the liturgy in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior on the feast of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

He noted that the false diplomacy of the détente era is gone.

According to him, the West "set the task was to fool" Russians, instill in them Western values and "draw them into their own world."

"But our people and our leadership have understood that these values contradict ours, because Holy Russia, thank God, preserves Christian values, which were included in the system of national values," Patriarch Kirill said.

According to him, "when it became clear that there was nothing in common, all this led to a military confrontation."

Earlier, Patriarch Kirill called for preventing the forced closure of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.
