This Sunday is simply Easter. This festival, precious in the eyes of the French, is the time to gather with family around a good meal and chocolates. However, this year, the flagship products of Easter have not resisted inflation and show a clear increase in their price.

It's Easter weekend! You may be finalizing your shopping for your family meal. Expect to see the price of your receipt skyrocket compared to last year. Chocolate, lamb, champagne... Easter essentials have indeed increased a lot and have not escaped inflation. For the occasion, Europe 1 went to meet traders.

An increase of 20% in one year

With his white apron around his neck, Gérard, a 62-year-old butcher, greets customers who come to make their last purchases for the Easter meal. In its window, its leg of lamb, the flagship product of this festival, displays an unprecedented price. "The leg now whole, it is worth 24 euros per kilo, before we were at 20 euros. I have a lot of customers, instead of taking a whole leg of 2.7 kilos they ask for shortened legs that are barely 2 kilos. So it's cheaper but there is less to eat, "says the shopkeeper.

An increase of 20% in one year for his leg of lamb just like Christophe's asparagus, early on the market. Yet it is not this increase that surprises him. "Asparagus is the flagship product, it's starting right now. With Easter, it went up the prices. Last week, asparagus was worth between 7 and 8 euros per kilo. Yesterday on the halls it was not worth far from 15 euros. I have sold almost everything, I still have a few boots of green but the white it is already finished, "he says at the microphone of Europe 1. Finally, the price of our chocolate confectionery has also exploded with an increase of 14.6% in one year according to our panelist Circana.
