Pregabalin is the active substance in the medicine Lyrica, which is prescribed for epilepsy, pain and anxiety, among other things. And it is around 30 kilos of the substance that has been smuggled in powder form to Eskilstuna.

The drug was ordered from China by the father and son, according to the ruling. The shipments have then been picked up in Eskilstuna.

Now both the father and son as well as two other men have been convicted of involvement in the drug deals.

The father is sentenced to four years and ten months in prison for aggravated drug smuggling and serious narcotics offences. The son gets two years in prison for aggravated drug smuggling, but he is acquitted of serious drug offenses.

A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to six years and ten months in prison for, among other things, aggravated drug smuggling, aggravated drug smuggling and aggravated weapons smuggling.

A 49-year-old man is sentenced to one year and three months in prison for drug offences and drug smuggling.
