After a turbulent time with an unclear future, the hockey club Västerviks IK can breathe a sigh of relief. After a qualifying series against Tingsryds AIF where the club lost the battle, there will be no relegation to Hockeyettan next season.

This after the Norrköping team Vita Hästen was declared bankrupt. Something that means that Västerviks IK gets back the Hockeyallsvenska place they recently lost.

"They have accepted"

– This was a gift from above, even if it does not feel like the right way to take a place, says Urban Widén chairman of the club.

"We regret the situation with Vita Hästen and have handled the matter in accordance with our competition rules. I have contacted Västerviks IK and offered them the place in Hockeyallsvenskan, and they have accepted, says Magnus Mårtensson, competition director at the Swedish Ice Hockey Association.
