Virginie Girod SEASON 2022 - 202305h00, April 04, 2023

Listen to the rest of the story dedicated to the "goddess queen" Nefertiti. The royal couple undertook a profound metamorphosis of ancient Egypt: new religion, new capital. Nefertiti was one of the first queens to be so involved in the politics of her country. She pulls the strings of power and advises her husband. Akhenaten and Nefertiti begin to be presented as equals: a man, a woman, on the same footing. It's a revolution! Nefertiti is also known for its incredible and incomparable beauty. The queen has served as a model for many figurative representations, including two very famous: a polychrome limestone bust (Egyptian Museum, Berlin) and an unfinished head (Cairo Museum). The bust of Berlin has become the archetype of female beauty. Currently, she is with the Mona Lisa, the most famous representation of a female face. Busts that have fueled the myth of this Egyptian queen. "Au Cœur de l'Histoire" is a Europe 1 Studio production.

Virginie Girod retraces the rest of the story dedicated to Nefertiti. The bust of Nefertiti, kept in Berlin, was sculpted by Thutmose in 1345 BC. This work is the symbol of the Amarna period: the representative art of ancient Egypt. It was created during the reign of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, then largely developed by Akhenaten, concerned about culture. An art that is characterized by its realism at the service of softness, delicacy where flowers, birds, plants abound. "Au Cœur de l'Histoire" is a Europe 1 Studio production.
