The 27-year-old was sentenced on March 20 this year to life in prison after stabbing Ulf Sandberg to death. According to the district court, the evidence was "not only convincing but overwhelming" as much of the proceedings were filmed by the perpetrators themselves.

Questioning the life sentence

Now the 27-year-old, through his lawyer, Niklas Kappel, has filed an appeal with the Court of Appeal stating that the murder convict "believes that the circumstances of the case, in the overall assessment to be made, are not such that there are grounds for imprisonment for life.

The appeal also states that a minor forensic psychiatric examination should be carried out because the circumstances surrounding the 27-year-old's person have not been sufficiently investigated at the district court.

As SVT Småland previously reported, the 30-year-old who was sentenced to six years in prison for participating in the assault will also appeal his sentence.
