"Young people in mainland China are paying more and more attention to personalization, and the market potential of private customization is still very large", Taiwanese youth Ye Haoxin has been engaged in clothing customization in Beijing for more than ten years, full of confidence in the development of this industry.

In 2011, Ye Haoxin, who was engaged in suit customization in Taipei, was sent to Beijing to develop business. At that time, suit customization was not yet popular, and his Taiwanese company used custom men's wedding dresses as a breakthrough, and opened dozens of stores in the mainland in a few years. Ye Haoxin, who saw the business opportunity, set up his own portal in 2014 and founded his own brand.

"Most of our guests are prospective grooms, who have served more than 10,000 couples in the past ten years," Ye Haoxin said, adding that many men wear suits for the first time when they get married, and launch customized services ranging from 2,000 yuan to 30,000 yuan, hoping that more ordinary consumers can enjoy services that are more suitable for themselves by paying the same amount of money as ready-to-wear.

Recently, Ye Haoxin nearly doubled the size of his studio in Beijing's CBD business district. Talking about "contrarian expansion", he told the China News Agency reporter that after the new crown epidemic eased, the turnover in the first three months of this year was 1.5 times that of the same period last year, and the original store sometimes could not accommodate so many customers, so he rented a larger house nearby and had a better experience.

He admits that the pandemic has had little impact on the studio, "because most of the guests are prospective grooms, the wedding may be postponed, but the dress will still be done." Orders fell during periods of particularly severe disease, but overall turnover increased steadily every year. ”

In the newly renovated studio, various styles of suits, shirts, trench coats, leather shoes, etc. are on display. Customers choose fabrics, styles, collar sizes, button styles and other details through professional tailoring, and then handmade by professional masters, and the whole customization process lasts about one month.

According to Ye Haoxin's observation, there will be an update and iteration of customized clothing in three or four years, such as Korean suits popular in Beijing ten years ago, and now Italian styles are the most popular, mainland consumers are also paying more and more attention to quality and service, taking the initiative to obtain a lot of knowledge about customization through self-media and other channels, clearly know their needs, and communicate more conveniently.

"The mainland clothing customization market is very large and the competition is fierce," Ye Haoxin said, adding that when the studio first opened in Jianwai SOHO, there were only three clothing customization stores here, and now there are twenty or thirty. Through long-term cooperation with some wedding photography and wedding companies, he has a relatively stable source of customers.

"Word of mouth is really important," Ye Haoxin said, and if customers change their body shape or don't like the style of buttons, they can modify and replace them for free for life. Regular customers sharing their experiences on platforms such as Dianping and Xiaohongshu can also bring some new customers.

After not returning to Taiwan for three years, Ye Haoxin took his Beijing wife and daughter back to his hometown for a while before the Spring Festival in the Year of the Rabbit. He said with a smile that he was happy to be with his family and friends. However, I am used to the northern diet, and it is a little difficult to return to Taipei.

Having lived in Beijing for a long time, Ye Haoxin has witnessed the rapid development of the city. He served as the vice president of the Fengtai District Taiwan Businessmen Association of the Beijing Association of Taiwan-funded Enterprises, and organized some visits to help Taiwan businessmen understand the latest policies and provide assistance to Taiwan compatriots in difficulty. "Living on the mainland is becoming more and more convenient. We have all applied for Taiwan resident residence permits, and it is very convenient to take the high-speed train and stay in hotels. ”

Talking about the next step, Ye Haoxin revealed that he will open a branch in Shanghai, "Some friends who are engaged in wedding photography came to Shanghai to open a store a few years ago, and I have always hoped for further cooperation. There is still a lot of room for the mainland clothing customization industry, and now that the epidemic is slowing down, I can also take another step forward and move forward. (End)
