In the United States, the case in which Donald Trump is to be indicted on Tuesday, April 4 is not the only one that threatens the former president: there is also, among others, that of classified documents found in his Mar-a-Lago residence. The investigation is focusing on what happened after Donald Trump received the subpoena asking him to return all classified documents. The objective is to see if at that time there was an attempt to obstruct the former president.

According to The Washington Post's sources, federal investigators have new evidence that boxes containing some of these documents were then taken out of a Mar-a-Lago warehouse. Donald Trump personally reviewed some of them at home, "apparently because he wanted to keep" some of their contents.

The investigators rely on testimonies, images from surveillance cameras, but also emails and text messages from one of his former advisers, who had followed him after he left the White House.

Donald Trump's lawyer questioned

According to the Washington Post, investigators have evidence that Donald Trump, before receiving the subpoena, asked his advisers and lawyers to write false testimony claiming that he had returned all the documents. He also reportedly questioned lawyers about how to keep some of them, after his team told him it was not possible.

We may know more when Evan Corcoran, his lawyer, testifies. The prosecutors in charge of this case have recently obtained in court the right to question him.
