Virginie Girod SEASON 2022 - 202314h05, 03 April 2023
Listen to the story of Lieutenant-Colonel Picquart, the man who would have revealed the truth in the "Dreyfus affair", told by historian Virginie Girod, in an unpublished story in two episodes. In 1894, Alfred Dreyfus, a Jewish officer, was accused of spying for Germany and convicted of treason. A few years later, Lieutenant-Colonel Picquart, the new head of military counter-espionage, accidentally discovers the name of the real mole at the General Staff. This is Commander Esterhazy. For him, there is no longer any doubt: Alfred Dreyfus is the subject of a miscarriage of justice. But this discovery puts him in danger... In this episode of the podcast "Au cœur de l'Histoire" produced by Europe 1 Studio, Virginie Girod tells the story of Marie-Georges Picquart's fate in the face of the Dreyfus affair. After his discoveries, he knows that the General Staff hopes for his death, a death on mission that would pass for heroic. And that would be so timely... This story is a Europe 1 Studio production.
