Virginie Girod SEASON 2022 - 202315h51, April 03, 2023

"At the Heart of History" takes you to discover the mysterious: Grigori Rasputin. Virginie Girod tells you her story and how the story of this healer was intertwined with that of Russia. For some, Rasputin is still a saint who predicted all the evils of his country from the Bolshevik revolutions of 1917. For others, he is a debauchee and manipulator who has plunged Russia into crisis. Originally from Siberia, son of a peasant, this healer or rather charismatic spiritual master as he likes to define himself is very close to the last tsars of Russia, the Romanovs. While leaving Siberia in 1904, he began to make a name for himself in Russian high society. Spiritual master, shaman, Rasputin is requested by all, in the influential circles of St. Petersburg. A reputation that brings him to the doors of the Tsar's residence. "Au cœur de l'Histoire" is a Europe 1 Studio production.

The story of Grigori Rasputin is full of mysteries. A tragic event will traumatize Rasputin. Little Grigori was born in January 1869 in the Tyumen district of Western Siberia, not far from the Ural Mountains. The family is relatively well-off, his parents are small peasants, owners of land. At about 8 years old, one winter, he plays by an icy river with his brother. Suddenly, the ice breaks. It falls into the water. His brother Andrei in turn throws himself into the river to save him. The water is so cold that it paralyzes him. He sank and drowned. For Grigori, the loss of his brother is a shock... "Au cœur de l'Histoire" is a Europe 1 Studio production.
