In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the current no longer passes between Martin Fayulu and former Prime Minister Adolphe Muzito. The two personalities, allies since the 2018 presidential election, are falling out over the management of the Lamuka coalition that had accompanied the candidacy of Mr. Fayulu. The Muzito camp threatened, yesterday, Saturday, April 1, to deregister Martin Fayulu if he does not pass the torch within ten days to Adolphe Muzito. The differences between the two men, who remained sole masters aboard the platform, after the departures - among others - of Moïse Katumbi and Jean-Pierre Bemba, date back nearly a year.

In October 2022, Adolphe Muzito passed the torch to Martin Fayulu for a six-month term amid differences. Adolphe Muzito opposed the rapprochement between Martin Fayulu and the camp of former President Joseph Kabila. Since then, the two personalities have drifted further apart.

« We wished him good luck »

For the Fayulu camp, it was Muzito who voluntarily withdrew from the coalition. And this weekend, Martin Fayulu recalled it in a statement. Prince Epenge, spokesman for the Fayulu camp: "He himself had written to the Lamuka coalition to inform us of his withdrawal from the Lamuka presidium. We wished him well.

The former prime minister is flabbergasted. He accuses Martin Fayulu of wanting to monopolize the political platform. In turn, he threatens to take note of the exclusion of Martin Fayulu, if he does not hand over the torch to his camp on April 11. Blanchard Mongomba, Secretary General of Muzito's New Momentum party: "There is no letter in which Mr. Adolphe Muzito renounced his existence as a co-founding member of Lamuka. This statement by Mr. Martin Fayulu unfairly excludes us, although he does not have one.

« He can't think he's a super man »

«

There is a strategy of wanting to accuse us gratuitously in the opinion so as to remain the only master on board Lamuka, says Blanchard Mongomba. We tell ourselves that he can't think he's a great man within Lamuka, he's a leader like all other leaders. ». When relatives of Martin Fayulu accuse Muzito of having moved closer to the current government, the concerned denies. He even confirmed his candidacy for the next presidential election.
