It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the lawsuit filed at the request of the US Environmental Protection Agency.

"The plaintiff - the United States - asks the court to bring the defendant to justice for illegal pollution of the country's water area and guarantee that he will pay the full cost of cleaning the environment," the document says.

As part of the lawsuit, the US authorities are demanding financial compensation from the company, eliminating the consequences of the environmental disaster, as well as ensuring the safety of further transportation of chemicals.

Earlier, Ohio residents filed a lawsuit against the railway operator for damage from the train crash with chemicals.

In February, a freight train carrying dangerous chemicals derailed and caught fire in the U.S. state of Ohio.
