In early February, a man was found injured in his home in Malå, he later died from his injuries. Since then, the murder investigation has been ongoing and two people, a man and a woman, are in custody on suspicion of murder.

A boy under the age of 18 was previously suspected of the murder – but he is now discharged from the investigation.

"My client is of course relieved," says Ida Viderlund, the boy's lawyer.

A 55-year-old man was also arrested at an early stage in the investigation, but was quickly released although he remains suspected of involvement.

"I have seen no evidence whatsoever of his involvement in this," says the man's lawyer, Jörgen Frisk.

Waiting for analysis response

The investigation into the case is dragging on. This, among other things, because they are waiting for analysis results from the police's forensic analysis body, NFC. On Friday, the woman and man were remanded in custody at Skellefteå District Court on probable cause on suspicion of murder. Both deny any wrongdoing.

"It's been a good time. The police should have progressed further in their investigation, says lawyer Jens Nyström.

Even the woman's lawyer is critical.

"There's nothing that singles out my client. I am even more critical now given the time that has passed since she was arrested, says Ulf Holst.

SVT Nyheter has for a long time repeatedly sought the prosecutor in the case, without receiving a response.

"The investigation is extensive and relates to a very serious crime. More information cannot be provided at this time because our opinion is that the investigation risks being damaged if more information is provided, writes prosecutor Andreas Nyberg, in an email to SVT Nyheter.

New time for the prosecutor to file charges is April 27.
