It was about two years ago that a man contacted the county administrative board that a reindeer had been killed by a wolf in Härjedalen. A few days earlier, the county government's nature watchdog had been in the same area and found that a reindeer had been killed by a lynx.

When the nature watchers arrived at the scene this time, they were convinced that a wolf had killed the reindeer. Since several wolf sightings had been made in the area, it was later decided to cull and the wolf was euthanized.

In retrospect, the county board concluded that it was the same reindeer that was shown to the nature watchers both times.

Now the man is charged with misconduct for misleading the county board. The man has said in police questioning that was not his intention and that there were wolves in the area.

The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency is demanding just over SEK 55,500 in damages for the killed wolf.
