The housing company Förbo is critical of PostNord's demand for common post boxes for residents of a terraced house in Lindome. Forbo believes that they have been faced with an ultimatum: build a common post box place for the boed - otherwise they will have to pick up the mail at our delivery point in Kungsbacka.

PostNord states that it is the reduction in physical mail that makes them feel forced to streamline their operations.

"Since the turn of the millennium, the postal volume has gone down 50 to 60 percent. With this reduction in letters, we must ensure that we get fewer stops and better dividends," says Håkan Schiller.

The bike is becoming increasingly impractical

In the past, they have introduced only distributing mail every other day. Now the company wants to make sure that the mail, as far as possible, can be delivered from a vehicle. The reason is also that it is more difficult to deliver mail by bicycle instead of a car, since an increasing part of the mail that is distributed consists of packages.

The result is therefore that mailboxes on pedestrian streets become a slow moment for PostNord.

Would need to pick up mail in Kungsbacka

If Förbo had not built their own post boxes in Lindome, the residents would have had to pick up their mail at the nearest delivery point, which is in Kungsbacka.

It's quite a long way to Kungsbacka. What are your thoughts on that?

"It's not a solution that you're looking for. But it's the last resort we have to get this done," Schiller says.

"If we did not agree to the requirements, the residents would have had to go to Kungsbacka to pick up the mail," says Mats Carlsson, Property Manager for Förbo. Hear him talk more about the conflict in the clip. Photo: Nils Arnell/SVT
