The State Treasury comes under the Ministry of Finance and is responsible for ensuring that the tax money is used in the best way. The last time the Sami Parliament was under the microscope was ten years ago.

"Even then, they came to the conclusion that we have too few resources to carry out the assignment.

Welcoming the review

Håkan Jonsson welcomes the new review, which, in addition to evaluating how the assignment is fulfilled, will also investigate how the organization affects the business.

The Sami Parliament should be compared with how municipalities and other authorities are managed. There will also be a comparison with the Sami parliaments in Norway and Finland.

"Finland doesn't have that many resources either, but in Norway you get the money you need," says Håkan Jonsson.

Can be forced to cut back

He says that the lack of resources is already being raised with the government.

"If we don't get more money, we will have to cut back," says Håkan Jonsson.

Exactly on what he does not want to speculate on at the moment.

By 24 November, the State Treasury's report must be ready.
