• Health The Hospital Clínic of Barcelona suffers a cyberattack and refers some services to other centers

Almost a month after the computer attack that paralyzed the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona for days, cybercriminals have begun to filter part of the stolen personal data of patients, professionals and collaborators. To avoid the leaks they asked for 4.5 million euros but the Generalitat does not want to pay this extortion so those responsible for the health center consider that the leaks will continue in the coming weeks.

Specifically, this morning the criminal group Random House has published between 3 and 4 gigabytes (GB) of data, which corresponds to a small part of the 4 terabytes that were stolen in the computer attack initiated on March 5. The medical director of Hospital Clínic, Antoni Castells, said that they are personal data of patients, professionals, collaborators and suppliers of the hospital. In addition, the head of the General Criminal Investigation Commission of the Mossos d'Esquadra, Ramon Chacón said that the data is on the 'dark web', which makes it difficult to eliminate.

A few weeks ago, cybercriminals asked for a ransom and showed evidence that they have the data in their possession. It is a "life copy" as is the "image of the main tree of the server where all the folders come out" according to the Government that maintains that the attack did not compromise "the structural database of the Department of Health".

The Mossos keep the investigation open with the Catalan Cybersecurity Agency and remember that "making use of stolen personal data as well as providing any link to access them can be a crime."
