JLT has previously said that it has to save because of runaway costs for, among other things, fuel. Despite the fact that the company received extra contributions of 71 million from the region.

Among the savings are fewer departures in the evenings for lines 1, 2, 3 and 4 in Jönköping. Lines 40, 41 and 42 in Tranås are removed but partially replaced by regional bus lines. There, the free of charge disappears and the regular price is introduced. The fast lines 35 between Huskvarna – Jönköping and 37, Jönköping – Taberg, are completely paused during the summer. Jönköpings länstrafik writes this on its website.

Still want to attract more people

Despite the savings, the political majority wants more people to choose public transport.

– It is when more people travel by public transport that we can offer more options, says Tommie Ekered (M), chairman of the committee for traffic, infrastructure and environment, Region Jönköping County in a comment on JLT's website.

Cuts have been made on routes that are considered to affect passengers the least. Länstrafiken is aware that it can have a negative impact on certain groups. At the same time, commuting to work and school has been a priority during the week days. The assessment is that daily commuters will not be affected, county traffic writes.
