Students in year 2 of upper secondary school were scheduled to attend, but people studying in adult education, folk high school, high school students and people who are part of a labor market measure were also welcome.

It was the second time that the Future Day was organized and it is based on an initiative from a group of study and career counsellors at various upper secondary schools in Eskilstuna and at adult education. Mälardalen University, MDU, is also involved in the collaboration.

Eskilstuna's vision

One idea of Future Day is to highlight and make people aware of industries where there is a shortage of labor. However, it can be difficult to see the results of such an initiative directly, according to Jessica Gustafsson, study and career counsellor at Kompetensgallerian – which is part of adult education.

"People are moving, maybe not living. But one of Eskilstuna municipality's vision goals is to raise the level of education in the city. Then we must collaborate with educational actors and the university. If you don't know what's available, it's also difficult to make informed choices," she says.

In the clip, you hear Jessica Gustafsson about what the future day will lead to and some of the visitors' reactions.
