New statistics from the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention (Brå) show that there were 116 cases of deadly violence in Sweden in 2022, which is three more than the previous year.

The report shows that the total amount of deadly force has increased, and that there has been an increase in deadly violence with the use of firearms.

On the other hand, the deadly violence in a couple relationship, which in 2022 amounted to 10 cases decreased - compared to 19 cases in 2021, Brå writes on its website.

"Lethal violence in a close relationship is a small category in terms of numbers, which means that the results can vary quite a lot from year to year. Therefore, the annual changes should be interpreted with caution, says Jan Lundbeck, statistician at Brå.
