On the housing company's website, the Thrush block is described as "an older downtown neighborhood with leafy beautiful courtyards." But that doesn't help. Many apartments are empty at present, the housing company is bleeding and sees no brightening.

" It is unfortunately the case that in the external analysis that has been made, Hällefors' population will not increase to an extent that justifies having so many empty apartments, says CEO Thomas Hjelmqvist.

In the clip, CEO Thomas Hjelmqvist talks about the situation and what will happen in the future.

Many questions from residents

"The purpose is to provide information and a background to those affected. There are many questions from the residents and we want to reassure them and tell them that alternative accommodation will be arranged, says Thomas Hjelmqvist.

He says that in the future, the company can build more modern rental properties with apartments that are more in demand.

"What people want is downtown housing with a higher standard than these houses offer. It can be about larger balconies, open kitchens and so on.

Relocations can start before the summer

If plans go ahead, demolitions will begin early next year. But it will only become relevant when relocations of remaining tenants have been made. The issue will also be dealt with by the council.

"We are working in parallel to plan this and hope to get started with relocations before the summer," says Hjelmqvist.
