The Supreme Council of Beja Optics said it had decided to shut down Sudan's eastern region for one day, while the head of the Justice and Equality Movement, Jibril Ibrahim, warned of a military coup in the country.

The Supreme Council of Beja Optics announced the closure of the eastern region of Sudan for one day on the first of next April.

This came in conjunction with the signing of the final agreement between the military component in power and political forces, led by the Alliance of Freedom and Change Forces - Central Council Group.

The Supreme Council of Beja Spectacles and Independent Columns in eastern Sudan said the political process could not proceed without resolving the issues of the east. The council noted its opposition to any political action or timetable for the formation of a government that most Sudanese reject, as it described.

Open options

Jibril Ibrahim, deputy head of the Democratic Bloc and head of Sudan's Justice and Equality Movement, said all options were open if the political process continued, including a military coup.

He added – during a press conference – that they told the head of the Sovereignty Council Abdel Fattah al-Burhan that the stability of the country will not be achieved if the Central Council continues to monopolize the political process, as he put it.

The parties to the framework agreement in Sudan have recently reached a draft of the "final political agreement" to be signed between the military and civilians in early April, under which a transitional civilian government will be formed.

The draft agreement included general principles, issues and concerns of the transition as well as the structures of the transitional authority.
