• Events A man shot dead in one of Marbella's luxury housing estates

The 62-year-old French woman, arrested last Friday in Alcobendas after displaying a firearm with live ammunition (six cartridges) during a match of six-year-old children, is admitted to the Psychiatry Unit of the Hospital of San Sebastián de los Reyes in Madrid. Her husband was shot dead in 2018 on Pizarra Street in Marbella. He was shot 20 times with a Kalashnikov rifle. He was allegedly linked to drug trafficking and arms distribution. He was 58.

The detainee, who was wearing sunglasses and a cap, took out the revolver on Friday and wielded the weapon for several seconds, causing fright in some of the people who were sitting near the Oscar Molina sports center on Manuel de Falla Street in Alcobendas. It was 19.15 p.m. and on the 7-a-side football field there was a match of children of pre-youngest age (5-7 years).

Quickly, two policemen who were off duty, and witnessing the game of their children, accompanied by two other parents, ran to reduce the woman, whom nobody knew in the stands and who was very out of control.

Óscar Durán, coach of the smaller teams, was taking the kids out of the field telling them that a woman had become ill and that the ambulances had to enter. "Some of the children came to tell me: 'It's true the woman is bad,'" said the trainer, who reiterates that the kids believed it without asking anything.

A patrol of the National Police appeared in the place, which finally managed to shackle and arrest the lady, who dropped the brown wig she was wearing. Upon inspecting his belongings, officers found a second revolver, also loaded with six other rounds, as well as four flares and a canister of pepper spray. It is unknown why the woman was in the stands of the soccer field and if she was a relative of any of the players who were playing the match.

The arrested, who hid her face with a brown wig, sunglasses and a neck panty, was transferred by the Summa 112 to the Infanta Sofía hospital, where she was admitted to the Psychiatry Unit when presenting a mental disorder.

During the intervention, the minors were taken to the other part of the enclosure while the woman was immobilized. Before entering the sports center, the sexagenarian was having a drink in a nearby cafeteria. His behavior was already strange for the owner of this bar, who even took a photograph of the woman. The National Police is now trying to find out why the woman wanted to take out this loaded pistol in the middle of the game. It is also inquired to know if he knew any person who was in the sports facilities.

In addition, the Department of Ballistics of the National Police is analyzing the weapons to find out if they have been used in any criminal act.

José Manuel Dávila, president of the La Moraleja soccer team, which was playing on the field at the time, said the off-duty police officers were heroes: "It could have been a tremendous misfortune. Their reaction was superb and they deserve recognition," praised the manager.

The children evicted last Friday have returned to training on Monday normally and without asking anything, according to their coach. "I was calm, everyone acted very quickly, but a few hours later when I was alone I thought that anything serious could have happened," said the coach, who says that nobody knew this French woman: "There is no relationship with any child of any team, nor with any relative."
