Save time and money

From now on, it will be enough to connect to the insurance website and click on "cancel your contract". No more registered mail, or repeated calls to customer service: this new offer will save time and money, explains Olivier Gayraud, lawyer at the CLCV association. "It targets these cases where the consumer has not taken the necessary steps to terminate his contract and he continues to pay simply negligently," he said.

Ensure continuity of service

Please note: if you are committed to one year, you will still have to pay a cancellation fee in the first year. Moreover, breaking your contract yourself is not always a good idea. "If your old insurance company tells you: I no longer insure you from tomorrow 15 p.m., and the new one does not take over until tomorrow at 20 p.m., you still have several hours where you are not covered. The best way to avoid this is to select your new insurer, and ask him to take the steps directly with the old insurer," says Olivier Gayraud.

In any case, this new system could interest many French people: 97% of them hold at least one insurance contract.
