The call for a strike by the two unions of employees of the Eiffel Tower operating company (Sete), the CGT and FO, means that the Iron Lady "does not have the workforce to open," Sete told AFP, but the forecourt remains accessible.

"The employees follow the national movement" but there is "no blocking of access" to the monument, one of the most visited in the world, says Sete.

The strike notice is non-renewable, still according to the Sete, the Eiffel Tower must reopen Wednesday.

"Due to a national social movement, the Estate and the Palace of Versailles are closed this Tuesday, March 28," read the website of the Palace of Versailles.

A similar message appeared on that of the Arc de Triomphe, at the top of the Champs-Elysées.

Usually closed to the public on Tuesdays, the Louvre, the world's busiest museum, remained closed all day Monday, with employees blocking entrances to protest against the pension reform.

Opponents of the pension reform were again demonstrating throughout France on Tuesday, with participation declining across the country, according to figures from both unions and authorities.

The ebb, obvious, was confirmed by the number one of the CFDT, Laurent Berger, who since the head of the Parisian procession reported a drop of the order of 20%.
