According to statistics from Sweden's municipalities and regions regarding employees with regular working hours in the municipal and regional sector, sick leave in Sweden increased in 2022 compared to the previous year. In Sörmland, Nyköping has the highest sick leave.

"It will be a working environment. It increases stress and it becomes difficult to plan and control. So there are only negative effects of a high level of work-related sick leave in a municipality, says Katarina Högström Hadfy, HR Manager Nyköping Municipality.

Must dare to talk

Nyköping is now working intensively to raise knowledge about work-related ill health and raise the skills of managers, employees and protection organizations. The municipality also believes that they have put the issue on the agenda and daring to talk about it is the basis for improvement.

"These should be workplaces that are sustainable over time," says Katarina Högström Hadfy.
