• Couples Meritxell Batet and Juan Carlos Campo: love between erasing the diary of sessions and the assault on the Constitutional Court
  • Politicians Felipe Sicilia: the gall of the sexy cop who patrols Congress like a socialist sheriff
  • Names Reyes Maroto, beyond politics: a small town in Valladolid, a husband and Richard Gere

His name is not yet well known nationally, but Héctor Gómez Hernández (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 1978) is not a last-minute patch for Pedro Sánchez at the head of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism. This discreet socialist deputy had been waiting for some time to be one of those summoned by the President to form his new government team.

Currently president of the Constitutional Commission, he arrives to replace Reyes Maroto at the head of a portfolio that Sánchez considers of his stature.

Militant of the PSOE since 2023, Gómez has a diploma in Tourism, a degree in Labor Sciences and a degree in Law at the same time. Three profiles that have always looked to the same side: the tourism sector. Between 2018 and 2019 he was director of Turespaña, an agency under the General State Administration that is responsible for promoting Spain as a travel and leisure destination abroad.

Little is known about this bison minister beyond the political sphere. Very discreet with his personal life and apparently single, for years he has maintained an excellent relationship with the President of the Government. Partly because of the generational and personal connection they both feel, since they are the same age and share hobbies.

Sánchez met him during a visit to Tenerife when he was a deputy for the Parliament of the Canary Islands and since then whenever he visited he met him to chat or exercise. Both politicians are passionate about cycling and basketball. On occasion they have been seen pedaling together. Now, it's their turn to row in the same direction.
