Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture is located in the hinterland of the Hengduan Mountains, more than 98% of the land is alpine valleys, and the incidence of poverty was once as high as 56%, and it was once one of the "three regions and three states" of deep poverty in the country. At the end of 2020, all 26,96 registered poor people in Nujiang Prefecture were lifted out of poverty, realizing the "millennium leap" from regional deep poverty to regional overall poverty alleviation.

The mountains are stacked and the rivers meander around. The magnificent and beautiful canyon scenery, winding beautiful roads, prosperous grass and fruit planting, and vibrant communities have witnessed and recorded the happy changes of the people on both sides of the Nu River.

Walking into the Bird Valley Grass and Fruit Estate built on the mountain, foreign guests listened to the story of getting rich strung with grass and fruit. As of 2022, 3,2 households in Nujiang Prefecture have planted grass fruits, and grass fruits have truly become the golden fruits and silver fruits for the masses to become rich. "Through the promotion of ecological grass and fruit industries, ecological protection, economic development and improvement of people's livelihood have become a reality in the Nu River, which is not only useful in the present day, but also beneficial to the future, providing sustainable development ideas for global poverty reduction." Under the relocation policy, 10,2 people in Nujiang Prefecture moved out of the mountains. Foreign guests walked into the largest relocation and resettlement community on the Nu River, with kindergartens, community hospitals, cultural squares and other infrastructure. "It is very encouraging that farmers have moved out of the harsh natural conditions and moved out of the mountains to live in communities, benefiting from good infrastructure, and greatly improving housing, transportation, education and medical conditions," said Edwin Avander, Chargé d'Affaires of the Kenyan Embassy in Beijing. ”

Writing miracles: China's chapter in poverty reduction in Yunnan

Guo Weimin, president of the China Public Relations Association and former deputy director of the State Council Information Office, pointed out that the poverty reduction practice of the Nu River is a vivid epitome of the effective connection between China's consolidation and expansion of poverty alleviation achievements and rural revitalization. If the poverty reduction practice of the Nu River is a "Chinese sample" in the mountains and deep valleys, looking at Yunnan, which has contributed 8.1% to China's poverty reduction rate and ranks second among 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), it is an indispensable chapter in China's poverty reduction miracle.

As one of the main battlefields in poverty alleviation in the country, Yunnan insists on taking poverty alleviation as a major political task, a top priority in development and the first livelihood project.

Since then, Yunnan Province has made every effort to consolidate and expand the achievements in poverty alleviation and effectively link rural revitalization, and accelerate the implementation of full coverage of industrial assistance and village-level collective economy. In 2022, each poverty alleviation county in Yunnan Province will form two to three leading industries with distinctive characteristics and wide range of assistance, promote industrial prosperity with industrial assistance, and comprehensively promote rural revitalization.

Namibian Ambassador to China Keyamo said that from what he saw and heard in Yunnan, China's achievements in poverty alleviation are worth learning from, and China has achieved the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way and embarked on a new "long march" in the new era.

Isabel Domingos, ambassador to Sao Tome and Principe to China, said that as an underdeveloped island country with few resources, although it is completely different from Yunnan in terms of natural conditions, the two sides have a "common language" in promoting development and improving people's livelihood.

Bahamian Ambassador to China Paulet Bethel said that he had seen the fruitful results achieved by Yunnan after the implementation of poverty alleviation, and hoped that Pakistan and China would actively carry out exchanges and cooperation on poverty reduction and learn from China's development experience.

Lao Ambassador to China Kampao Ntawan said that she has visited Yunnan many times, and Yunnan has actively worked hard to improve the people's living standards and promote harmonious coexistence among all ethnic groups, and these valuable experiences are worth learning.

Impressed by what they saw and heard during their visit to Yunnan, the envoys in China adopted a Joint Statement in which they agreed to promote the deepening of exchanges and cooperation between their host countries and Yunnan in the fields of rural revitalization, beautiful rural construction and industrial development, share Yunnan's successful experience in depth, and jointly promote greater achievements in global poverty reduction.

China Sample Poverty reduction results shared by the world

Poverty reduction governance is a long-term and systematic project. According to relevant United Nations data, the number of extremely poor people in the world is expected to increase by 2022 million to 7500 million in 9500. In the face of the grim situation, the Chinese government has deeply participated in global poverty reduction governance. China's poverty reduction experience has provided useful reference and enlightenment for accelerating the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and continuously deepened international exchanges and applied cooperation.

Maria Gustava, Ambassador of Mozambique to China, believes that China's successful practical experience in consolidating poverty alleviation achievements and promoting rural revitalization through science and technology has enlightenment and reference significance for developing countries including Mozambique. Science and technology, represented by new infrastructure and the Internet, shorten the geographical distance between urban and rural areas, attract more funds and talents to invest in rural construction, and cultivate momentum for sustainable rural development and agricultural modernization.

Robert Walker, academician of the British Academy of Social Sciences and foreign professor of Beijing Normal University, believes that China has fully mobilized the forces of all parties to formulate political, economic and social diversified policies, and fully implement the individual, community, enterprise, collective and international responsibility of poverty reduction governance. It is China's firm fulfillment of this "whole-process social responsibility" that has effectively promoted the cause of global sustainable development and made significant contributions to the eradication of poverty worldwide.

The envoys of 20 countries in China and representatives of four international organizations in China walked into Yunnan to "immerse" in exploring China's practical "code" to help the world poverty reduction, which is not only China's deep participation in global poverty reduction governance, but also a vivid interpretation of China's new development to create opportunities for global common development.

The foreign guests unanimously agreed that China has always been an activist in the cause of global poverty reduction and development, and hoped that China will continue to share its useful experience in high-quality rural development with the world and provide more impetus and opportunities for the modernization of all countries.
