SVT has visited an air base on Okinawa, a group of Japanese islands where several bloody battles were fought during World War II. Today it has a strategic location in the Pacific Ocean.

In Japan, a change is now underway from being a pure self-defense army.

"The Japanese army should be allowed to attack if it believes that the nation's interests are threatened," explains SVT's foreign affairs reporter Ulrika Bergsten.
