IAEA Director General meets with President Zelensky

IAEA = International Atomic Energy Agency Director-General Grossi visited Zaporozhye in southern Ukraine on the 27th and held talks with President Zelensky.

Grossi posted on his Twitter account that he had a "substantial exchange of views on the protection of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant" along with a photo of him sitting face to face with President Zelensky.

At the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, the supply of external power necessary for cooling the reactors was often interrupted due to a series of shellings, and it seems that the two sides discussed measures to ensure the safety of the nuclear power plant.

In addition, according to the Office of the President of Ukraine, both sides also inspected the dam that supplies cooling water to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and confirmed the damage to the facility caused by a Russian missile attack.

During his visit to Ukraine, Director-General Grossi is also scheduled to visit the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant for the second time since September last year, emphasizing the IAEA's commitment to the safety of nuclear power plants.

Russia wary of Ukrainian drone attack

The British Ministry of Defense pointed out in an analysis of the situation in Ukraine released on the 27th that the military port city of Sevastopol in Crimea, southern Ukraine, which was unilaterally annexed by Russia, was attacked by at least three unmanned surface boats and one unmanned aerial vehicle on the 22nd of this month.

The unmanned surface craft is believed to have been destroyed and no Russian ships were damaged, but these attacks also limit the operations of the Russian Navy's Black Sea Fleet based in Crimea.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it shot down a Ukrainian military drone in Tula Oblast, about 3 kilometers south of the capital Moscow, on the 1th.

In Russia, air bases in the south and center were attacked last December by what appeared to be drones of the Ukrainian military.

Defense Minister Shoigu has indicated that he intends to strengthen Moscow's anti-aircraft defense on May 26, and it seems that he is increasing his vigilance against attacks by Ukrainian drones.
