He says he hasn't really made up his mind, that it's 50/50 if he starts his own party.

"Since I said I'm thinking about forming the Landskrona Democrats, 15-20 people have contacted me and said they're joining. Among them are several active Sweden Democrats, he says.

Stefan Olsson has been chairman of sd in Landskrona for 15 years. He sits on the city council and is thus a municipal councillor. As recently as late last year, he was also appointed second vice chairman of the city council.

Quick reaction

In December, he suddenly announced via social media that he was thinking about becoming a political savage. Then it went fast.

The Sweden Democrats reacted sharply and started a case of exclusion and have demanded that he leave his posts. But nothing can be done to remove Stefan Olsson from the post of elected municipal councillor. He can remain in office until the end of December 2026. In the meantime, he has 62.5 percent of a parliamentary salary, which corresponds to approximately SEK 45,000 a month.

His decision is criticized by sd in Landskrona.

"The party must both function and deliver during the term of office, at the same time we must be sincere because of course we are seriously damaged by the fact that Stefan Olsson is downright kidnapping the only paid post we have to fill," said Daniel Engström, who is chairman of Landskrona municipal association, in a press release in connection with the party opening the process for exclusion.

Many exclusions

This is far from the first time that SD has ruled out municipal politicians. In Klippan, twelve local politicians were excluded. Even in Skurup, there have been several exclusions and internal battles.

"SD is a dysfunctional party," says Stefan Olsson.

"It acts as both a prosecutor and a judge and you have no chance to defend yourself.
