Toronto, 3 Mar (ZXS) -- A spokesman for the Chinese Embassy in Canada said in the early morning of 25 March that China has noted that during US President Joe Biden's visit to Canada, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and President Biden have repeatedly hyped up China-related issues and repeatedly talked about China. China expresses its strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition to this.

Regarding Canada's claim that China poses a so-called "long-term serious challenge and destructive behavior" to the international order, the embassy spokesperson pointed out that China adheres to peaceful development, advocates openness and inclusiveness, practices win-win cooperation, and has always been a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development, and a defender of international order. A small number of Western countries, including Canada and the United States, adhere to the Cold War mentality, adhere to ideological prejudice, engage in "bloc politics" based on the interests of "small circles", wantonly undermine the sovereignty of other countries, and cause tremendous damage to international peace, security and development. That is the serious, long-term and greatest threat to the international order.

Regarding the so-called Chinese "interference" in the internal affairs of Canada, the embassy spokesman reiterated that China has always adhered to the principle of non-interference in other countries' internal affairs. China's consular offices have always performed their duties in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations and the bilateral consular agreements between China and Canada. The Canadian side should abandon ideological prejudice, immediately stop stigmatizing Chinese institutions and personnel in the normal performance of their duties, and immediately stop smearing and attacking China's words and deeds.

Regarding the cases of Michael Kovrig and Michael, the embassy spokesman pointed out that China is a country ruled by law, and relevant departments handle cases according to law. Meng Wanzhou's detention for nearly three years without violating any Canadian law is nothing short of arbitrary.

The embassy spokesman stressed that at present, China-Canada relations are facing difficulties, which China does not want to see, but the responsibility lies with China. Some Canadian politicians have repeatedly made irresponsible remarks, creating new interference and obstacles to bilateral relations, and this practice will only further damage China-Canada relations and Canada's own interests. China once again urges the Canadian side to adhere to mutual respect, seek common ground while reserving differences, and do more to enhance mutual trust, promote cooperation and improve the atmosphere of bilateral relations, rather than the opposite.

U.S. President Joe Biden made his first visit to Canada since taking office on March 3-23. During this time, Biden spoke in the Canadian Parliament and held a press conference with Trudeau. (End)
