According to the American Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), a US official said that on the evening of the 24th local time, two US facilities in Deir Ezzor Province, Syria were attacked. The two attacks occurred almost simultaneously.

The U.S. official said three drones targeted a U.S. facility, two of which were shot down. There were no casualties in the attack.

Another U.S. facility was hit by five rockets, wounding one U.S. serviceman, and is in stable condition. U.S. officials said damage assessments of the facilities were still ongoing.

ABC pointed out that the two bases that were attacked on the evening of the 24th were located in "Green Village" and "Conoco", a mission support base.

The report also said that earlier on the 24th, "Green Village" had been attacked once. At that time, multiple rockets attacked the base, but did not hit any buildings and did not cause any casualties.

Shortly before these attacks, the US military carried out a "retaliatory" air strike in eastern Syria on the 23rd.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Austin said on the 23rd that under the instructions of US President Biden, he authorized the US military to carry out precision air strikes on facilities located in eastern Syria. This was in response to an earlier attack on a U.S. military base near Syria's province of Hassakeh, which killed one U.S. contractor and injured five others.

According to Agence France-Presse, citing the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the target of the US airstrike was a weapons depot in the eastern Syrian province of Deir Ezzor, and six supporters of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps died in the airstrike.

For the "retaliatory" air strike, US President Biden responded on the 24th that the United States does not seek conflict with Iran, but will provide "strong" protection for Americans in Syria and elsewhere.
