Another earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale struck the southern Turkish state of Kahramanmaraş on Saturday.

The Turkish Anadolu Agency reported that the earthquake occurred in the district of "Akin Ozu" in the state of Kahramanmaraş and at a depth of 7 km.

On Friday, a magnitude 4.7 earthquake struck the state of Kahramanmaraş, and the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Administration (AFAD) said in a statement that the quake was recorded at a depth of 7.34 kilometers underground in the state's Goksun district.

It was the fourth earthquake to hit Kahramanmaraş province since Thursday.

Two devastating earthquakes measuring 7.7 and 7.6 on the Richter scale struck on February <> in southeastern Turkey and northern Syria, followed by thousands of tremors.

The quakes killed more than 50,<> people and caused extensive damage to buildings and infrastructure.


The Turkish government announced that the size of the damage amounted to $ 103.6 billion, and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced a tender for the construction of 46,327 houses in cities and villages, as part of efforts to build permanent houses in the earthquake area.

Erdogan promised – in his remarks days after the Kahramanmaraş earthquake – that within one year citizens living in tents and prefabricated houses will be moved to permanent apartments, and reported that the work to determine the extent of the damage is about to be completed in the earthquake areas.
