Dissatisfaction within the Christian Democrats is great after the recent tours around two of the party's main representatives. Party secretary Johan Ingerö was forced out of his post after a police report of sexual harassment, which allegedly took place after a liquor party at a hotel almost nine years ago. In addition, there was a lot of attention over the use of cannabis by MEP Sara Skyttedal. Her future in the party is uncertain after she was criticized by party leader Ebba Busch.

Christian Democrats in the county

KD has a stronghold in the free-church Bible belt around Jönköping and there are now members who no longer recognize the party. District chairman and chairman of the municipal board in Mullsjö, Per Högberg, tells Dagens Nyheter that his voters are desperate and that there is a crying mood.

SVT has been in contact with Per Högberg who does not want to stand for an interview.

Hagevi on the free church connection

Magnus Hagevi, who is a professor of political science at Linnaeus University, believes that these issues become extra sensitive for a party like the Christian Democratic Party.

"No party wants to associate itself with different types of sexual abuse, drugs or alcohol parties," he says.
