"The concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind is China's 'Chinese solution' for China's continuous struggle for the cause of human progress, conforming to the call of the times and promoting inclusive development in the world." The building of a community of common destiny between China and Cambodia has become a model for a new type of international relations. Geivig, deputy director of the General Office of the Cambodian Prime Minister's Office and chairman of the Forum of the Cambodian Civil Society Organization Alliance, said in an exclusive interview with China News Agency.

This year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cambodia, and is also the "Year of China-Cambodia Friendship". Not long ago, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen visited China, becoming the first foreign leader to receive after the Chinese New Year in 2023. The two sides issued the Joint Statement on Building a China-Cambodia Community with a Shared Future in the New Era, signed 12 cooperation documents and officially launched the China-Cambodia Year of Friendship.

"Cambodia has always actively responded to China's concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind." Gherevich said that the development of human society is in a period of profound change, countries are interconnected and interdependent, and the trend of the times of cooperation and win-win results is stronger. At the same time, the international community is also facing common challenges: sluggish world economic growth, increasingly prominent development gaps, and problems such as terrorism and major infectious diseases continue to spread. The concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind is an effective solution to these problems.

Gériwig pointed out that over the past decade, the Cambodian top has clearly responded to and supported this program on different occasions. In 2019, China and Cambodia signed the China-Cambodia Action Plan for Building a Community of Shared Destiny. Cambodia became the first country to sign an action plan with China to build a community of common destiny, and Cambodia and China, as "hardcore friends", took the lead in promoting the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind in all sectors of society in the two countries.

Gerevich has long worked on the front line of exchanges between Cambodia and China. He said that over the past decade, the "iron-core" friendship between Cambodia and China has been deepening, and mutual support on issues involving each other's core interests is the core essence of the China-Cambodia community with a shared future. The friendship between Cambodia and China not only benefits the two peoples, but also sets a model of a new type of international relations featuring mutual respect, fairness and justice, and win-win cooperation.

Gerevich said that Cambodia's roads, roads, bridges and other infrastructure construction cannot be separated from the help of the Chinese government and Chinese people. By providing "two excellent" loans to the Cambodian side, China has jointly implemented infrastructure projects such as highways, bridges, water conservancy and power transmission, built or upgraded about 3000,8 kilometers of roads, built eight extra-large bridges, completed irrigation area of about 45,6 hectares of water conservancy projects, and completed more than 8000,3 kilometers of transmission and transformation lines of Cambodia's national power grid and rural power grid. The "Xigang Special Economic Zone", the flagship project of the "Belt and Road" project of Cambodia, has been steadily advanced, and a large number of enterprises have settled in the park, creating more than <>,<> local jobs and contributing to Cambodia's economic and social development. At the same time, in the face of the global epidemic, Cambodia-China relations have also continued to sublimate in the "fight against the epidemic together". "These are the best proof of the 'hardcore' friendship between the two countries, and also constitute a touching and heartwarming picture of the China-Cambodia community of common destiny."

Speaking about the future development of relations, Gériwig said that the leaders of Cambodia and China agreed to build a framework for "six diamonds" cooperation between China and Cambodia in six major areas: politics, production capacity, agriculture, energy, security and humanities. The "Six Sides of Diamonds" cooperation framework will be a highlight of the two countries' promotion of building a China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era. "Building a 'Diamond Six-Side' cooperation framework will inject important impetus into the construction of a high-quality, high-level and high-standard China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era, inject new connotations into the Cambodia-China 'hardcore' friendship, and better benefit the two countries and peoples."
