Both Russia and Ukraine condemn "execution of prisoners of war" by UN

The United Nations Human Rights Observatory, which is investigating the human rights situation in Ukraine, where Russia's military invasion continues, released a report on the 432th, summarizing the results of interviews with 50 prisoners of war and their relatives from both sides and field surveys at 24 locations.

According to the report, Russia executed 15 detained prisoners of war and Ukraine executed up to 25 detained prisoners of war.

It also said that more than 203 percent of the 84 prisoners of war held by Russia were tortured or ill-treated, five died from torture injuries, and almost half of the 5 prisoners of war detained by Ukraine were tortured or ill-treated.

On the other hand, civilians were detained on the Russian side in 229 cases, 621% of the 127 interviewees said they had been subjected to torture and other ill-treatment, including sexual assault, while 90 were detained on the Ukrainian side, and 91% of the 73 interviewees said they had been tortured or ill-treated.

Speaking about the report, Bogner, the head of the observer mission, condemned Russia and Ukraine, saying, "We are deeply concerned about the executions of prisoners of war, and if we do not comply with international humanitarian law, the impact on civilians will continue."
