The British government said Thursday it was "not aware of any change of plan" regarding Charles III's visit to France, agitated by a major social movement against a controversial pension reform.

King Charles III is expected in France as part of his first state visit since his accession to the throne in September. Accompanied by his wife Queen Camilla, he will remain there until March 29 before going to Germany until March 31. The monarch is due to arrive on Sunday on a state visit, which is likely to be disrupted by protests. "I am not aware of any plans to change the plan," a Downing Street spokesman said on Thursday.

The program could be disrupted

Charles III is due to attend a ceremony with President Emmanuel Macron under the Arc de Triomphe and participate in a banquet at the Palace of Versailles, near Paris, before going to Bordeaux (southwest).

However, the programme could be disrupted, as the unions mobilised against the pension reform in France have already announced that the royal visit was "in their sights". Buckingham Palace says it is monitoring the situation closely.
