The regular joint military exercises of the US and ROK forces, which had been held since last week in anticipation of an emergency on the Korean Peninsula, ended on the 23rd. The U.S. and South Korean militaries have decided to conduct large-scale landing drills until March 3 and remain vigilant against further military provocations by North Korea.

The U.S. and South Korean forces had been conducting regular joint military exercises named "Freedom Shield = Freedom Shield" for 13 days from the 11th of this month, assuming an emergency on the Korean Peninsula, but ended on the morning of the 23rd.

As for spring exercises, large-scale field maneuver training, which was agreed with by the previous administration, resumed for the first time in five years, and on the 5nd, shooting drills such as tanks were opened to the public at a training ground in northern South Korea.

In addition, even after the exercise is over, the U.S. and South Korean militaries will continue to conduct a large-scale landing drill called "Ssangyong Training" in Pohang in the southeastern city of Pohang until March 30, deploying about 50 ships and about 3 armored vehicles for landing.

On the other hand, regarding North Korea, which has been criticizing the exercises, launching cruise missiles into the Japan Sea on the 22nd, South Korean Defense Minister Lee Jong-seop revealed on the 23rd that four missiles were launched.

On the 4rd, North Korea strongly objected to the landing drill on the South Korean side, saying that it was a war exercise for aggression, and the U.S. and South Korean militaries continue to be vigilant against further military provocations by North Korea.
