• CGPJ Resigns the vocal Concepción Sáez appointed at the proposal of IU

The member of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ), Álvaro Cuesta, former deputy of the PSOE and very close to the Government of Pedro Sánchez, has proposed to the counselors of the progressive sector of the body that they address their resignation en bloc after the announcement of resignation by the vocal Concepción Sáez.

According to legal sources reported to EL MUNDO, Cuesta has asked the counselors of the progressive sector to meet tomorrow to "open" the debate on the current situation that the CGPJ is going through – with the mandate extended since the end of 2018 – and deal with the resignation of the members in a coordinated manner. This member also considers that the announcement should be dealt with in the plenary session next week.

On the other hand, the counselor has slipped the idea that if eight members agree to resign from office, the Plenary of the CGPJ is left without the capacity to operate, thus being able to force the political forces to reach an agreement on the renewal of the body.
