The large demonstrations in France have gained new momentum and become more violent after the French government last week bypassed parliament and pushed through the reform that extends the retirement age to 64.

"They are pulling in more of our rights and you get worried," says student Ella Khalilzad, who joins a demonstration train.

"Seems spoiled"

The French demonstrators say they have something to defend, something that most other countries in Europe have already lost.

"We think that everyone in Europe should work significantly less. Capitalism is about constantly working more and producing more even though there is already money. You don't live to work, you work to live," said Francois Xavier Arouls, a striking subway driver.

Ella Khalilzad was interviewed earlier in the week. On Thursday, new demonstrations erupted around France.
