Q: What is it like to be a good captain and what kind of captain do you want to be?
A: "A good captain is someone who is above all focused on the team, who is able to bring people together, unify and take others in their wake. There are fundamentals as a captain. But it is also according to the personalities of each. I will be turned towards others. I don't have a lot of captaincy experience and we have important players in the team. I do not want to decide, to impose, I want to open the possibility to others to express themselves. We are a united group and we showed in our great performances that when we were all together and everyone had their place, we were able to do great things. It would be a mistake for me to upset all that."
Q: How do you be a unifying captain when you're more focused on yourself?
A: "I'm not going to transform. I have a word that is still listened to in the locker room. You just have to use it in the best way. You have to think about the collective, take others in your wake and be turned towards the same goal, that there is not a gap between me and my teammates, that we form one group, that we are united."
Q: Antoine Griezmann seems disappointed not to have been named captain. Have you talked to him?
Q: How did you react to Didier Deschamps' announcement to appoint you as captain?
A: "It's first and foremost a kiff. I am captain of my country, you cannot avoid it. I was very happy when he told me. But it is a new responsibility, something that I will assume serenely. I'm not going to put pressure on myself, it's not going to change the way I play, the way I behave. It will be necessary to be even more oriented towards others. I will face this ordeal with kindness and positivity."
Q: Your multiple positions sometimes have a great resonance. Will you now measure and limit your speech?
A: "Why do you want it to change? Everyone is captain according to their personality. I'm not like Hugo (Lloris) and Hugo is not like me. Everyone has been a different captain and I will be a different captain. I don't think the coach put me as captain thinking I was going to do the same thing as Hugo."
