"The well-preserved grandstand is one of the few that remains in the county from the early history of popular sports and it will therefore be an important addition to Kronoberg's listed buildings," says Viktoria Bylund, cultural environment officer at the County Administrative Board of Kronoberg.

The grandstand was inaugurated in 1933, making it the oldest remaining building on the historic Virdavallen. According to the county administrative board, the grandstand represents the popular sports that emerged in Sweden in the early 1900s, which gives it a particularly great cultural-historical value, which is required for a listed building.

"It's great that we can draw attention to the sports movement's buildings as important cultural environments, worth preserving for the future," says Heidi Vassi, county antiquarian at the Kronoberg County Administrative Board.
